This evening the South Canterbury Museum officially opened the “Salt to Silicon” history of photography exhibition. The exhibition will become a focal point for the Museum’s school education programmes in the coming months. Timaruonline captured some candid shots of people attending the opening, including several well-known local photographers. “Curated by museum chairman Craig Perkins, the exhibition is a collection of his own photographic equipment.
The exhibition ranges from early photographic techniques such as salt-based images through to the silicon methods of digital photography, including the first Apple camera and phone camera technology of today.” [Timaru Herald]
